Every year Wellington city hosts a wide range of events, including concerts, sporting matches, live theatre and dance, exhibitions and festivals. The Council supports many of these events through grants, event coordination, and promotional activities.

'Go bush' and join in this free annual event which includes a native plant sale, refreshments and displays. As part of Conservation Week, the theme is 'Meet the locals' and there will be a focus on local forest plants. Walks and talks will be held throughout the day.

Experience an evening of creativity, dance and theatrical wizardry at the 20th Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show.

Each two-hour performance selects around 150 garment entries, including 55 from international designers, and celebrates them through a montage of theatre, movement and art.

View 200 works from iconic Kiwi artist Rita Angus at this free exhibition at Te Papa. Paintings displayed include Cass, Fay and Jane Birkinshaw, and Boats, Island Bay as well as studies for paintings that provide insight into the society that influenced her.
